Altus is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa (Western Cape Division, Cape Town) with a Bachelors degree in Law (LLB)(UFS) as well as a Masters degree in Mercantile Law (LLM)(UFS) and a Fellow at the Association of Arbitrators (Southern Africa).
He has more than twelve (12) years post articles experience in corporate governance, commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Furthermore, he has considerable knowledge and exposure to disputes relating to the JBCC, FIDIC, NEC & GCC applied in both the public- and private sectors, including the drafting and vetting of all litigation processes and various commercial agreements.
Prior to relocating to Cape Town in May 2018, Altus practised as an advocate at the Johannesburg Society of Advocates (The Johannesburg Bar) for eight (8) years, with a proven record of advice and highly skilled in commercial and construction litigation, administrative law, contract negotiation, reviewing and drafting, as well as providing practical legal advice on contractual disputes and the management thereof.
In Altus’s spare time, he enjoys various outdoor activities such as hiking, volunteering as a crew member at the National Sea Rescue Institute, and spending time with his family.
